Ziwi Baby
founded 2018 in New Zealand
We're Ziwi Baby and we make thoughtful apparel for the little people in our lives. We love organic cotton, soft fabrics and quality clothes which are both beautiful and comfortable to wear. Our garments are made with respect for the people involved in the process and the Earth which we all share. Each Ziwi Baby garment carries the Global Organic Textile Standard label. With the opening of our US store in 2024, we're pleased to share our collections with you and we hope you & your little one love them as much as we do.
Pure organic cotton
Cotton is one of the four main natural fibers (along with wool, silk and linen) and has been used to make baby clothes for centuries. We love organic cotton for its purity and softness. Grown without agrichemicals, it's kinder on baby's skin, farmers and the earth.
Our certified organic cotton is grown by individual farmers and collectives in rural India. Organic farming improves the health and well-being of farmers, their families, and communities by fostering fresher air to breathe, cleaner water to drink and healthier soil to grow food in.
Farmers have the freedom to run their farm as they please without the burden of accumulated debt taken out to purchase patented seeds and agrichemicals. They're legally free to save seeds for future seasons, share them with other farmers, and mentor, support & learn from each other.
Chemical-free
Our fabrics are made from 100% organic cotton without any blended synthetic or semi-synthetic fibers such as elastane/spandex, bamboo, viscose, rayon or polyester. Not only is our cotton certified organic, but everything that goes into our clothes - dyes, thread, drawstrings, buttons and zippers - is non-toxic, hypoallergenic and low-impact on the environment.
Our garments are free from AZO dyes, plastisol inks, formaldehyde, flame retardants, chlorine bleach, heavy metals, and other toxic substances.
By saying no to harmful agrichemicals and textile chemicals in our supply chain, we create clothes that are safe for little ones as well as farmers, workers and our beautiful earth.
Ethically made
We only work with manufacturers who share our commitment to fair wages, safe working conditions and environmental sustainability. Ethically made that our manufacturers are independently audited to meet the below criteria, at a minimum:
- Fair wages (defined as sufficient to meet basic needs and provide some discretionary income).
- Working conditions are physically and emotionally safe (conforms to occupational health & safety standards, free of physical hazards, and free from discrimination and harassment).
- Working hours are reasonable (up to a maximum of 48 hours per week / 8 hours per day with regular rest and meal breaks).
- Equal opportunities and equal remuneration for women.
- The right to join industry unions and to collectively bargain is respected.
- No child labor or bonded labor.
Turtle-friendly packaging
Clothing is a major contributor to ocean plastic pollution, since each garment is typically packaged in a single use plastic polybag.
Although packaging is important to protect garments, it's equally important not to harm our ocean friends in the process. That's why we pack with care using FSC-certified or recycled paper bags.
Please help us keep the cycle going by recycling our swing tags, glassine paper bags, and mailers at curbside with paper. We occasionally use home compostable mailers which can be composted at home.

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognized as the world’s leading processing standard for clothing made from certified organic materials.
You can trust that every Ziwi Baby garment is:
